When it comes to travelling, people talk about mainstream locations, like countries that live from tourism. But no one talks about the least visited countries. We probably don’t know about some of the countries on this list. Here is a list of least visited countries in the world.
It has a lot of amazing, unexplored mountains. If we are fond of hiking and have enough money to afford it, Bhutan is the place for us. Bhutan is a Buddhist country and we can find a lot of breathtaking temples and monasteries hidden deep in the beautiful mountains.
This country has a lot to offer, from sandy beaches to tropical jungles and the opportunity of seeing a Bengali tiger. It is a very poor country so we can have a great holiday in a country different from anything we ever saw before and spend very little.
They have amazing, cheap wine and cognac, beautiful architecture, the people are very warm and welcoming and everything is cheap. There aren’t many tourists in this place so we won’t get the rush. If we are around Eastern Europe then we can visit this little European secret.
It is an exotic country with a lot of natural beauty and probably we haven’t seen anything like this before. The most famous tourist attraction in the country is the Darvaza fire crater that’s more commonly known as ‘the door to hell’ and if there was a door to hell it would certainly look like that.

The Central African Republic is one of the very few places where we can see and interact with Pygmy people. There is the possibility of staying in an authentic Pygmy village. Another reason is the rich wildlife, such as elephants and mountain gorillas.
The journey is very difficult but once we get there we won’t regret it for a single second. It is a country of mountain lions which will blow us away with its unmatched scenery, serenity and wildlife. Everybody here speaks English so there won’t be any communication problem.
It is one of the two double landlocked countries in the world with the other one being Uzbekistan. A double-landlocked country is a country that is surrounded by two or more landlocked countries. The mountains here are just gorgeous as it is an Alpine country.
This country doesn’t show signs of modern life. It has the Bijagos Archipelago made of more than 20 beautiful tropical islands. The colonial Portuguese architecture will take us back in times, which are still present in the cities across the country.
It has an active volcano, a mysterious salt lake, animals, rival Noah’s Ark and of course beaches. Additionally, it is the world’s largest ylang-ylang manufacturer, the oil used in the creation of perfumes.
Sao Tome and Principe
It has stunning colonial architecture, amazing fish dishes, arguably the best place in the world for whale watching, mountains, beaches and heart-warming hospitality. And they also claim to have the world’s best dark chocolate.
It is a beautiful and peaceful place with some amazing diving spots. It is surprising at it’s one of the least visited countries in the world. Its location in the central Pacific makes it a good starting point for island hopping in the Central Pacific.
If we are an adventurist junkie or love traveling in dodgy countries Somalia should be at the top of our list. There are only a few hotels in this country and it doesn’t have nightlife. However, after 20 years of lawlessness without a government, the country seems to be stabilizing but it’s still considered not recommendable to visit.
