Ever Wondered how a city amidst the beauty of nature looks like. Check out this wonderful city of Dehradun the capital of Uttarakhand. Dehradun is located in the Doon Valley on the foothills of the Himalayas nestled between the river Ganges on the east and the river Yamuna on the west. The city is famous for its breathtaking natural views mild climates. It’s also famous because it’s directly connected to famous tourist destinations like Mussoorie, Auli, Rishikesh, etc. Having mild climate and a good supply of water the city of Dehradun is a densely populated city It is a very popular tourist spot for youth and foreigners.

Famous natural sites to visit-

Dehradun is gifted with a dozen of natural sites places like caves, waterfalls, dense forests, parks, etc. One can visit the following places-

  • Sahastradhara-

The name sahastradhara means ’the thousandfold springs’ is a popular destination. It consists of stepping farmlands, caves, waterfalls, etc it provides visitors with beautiful and rejuvenating views. The name is due to the water that drips from the limestone stalactites in the caves and its waterfalls.

  • Tiger falls-

The tiger falls are located at a higher altitude compared to the others they’re situated amidst dense forest at the foothills of Himalaya. The water converges into small ponds converting the waterfalls into an amazing place to chill. Being at 312 ft it is considered the highest direct waterfalls in India.

  • Robbers cave-

Robbers cave also known as Gucchi Pani is a river cave that has been formed from 8km away from Dehradun. It is a magnificent view because of the river flowing from the middle of the caves which is a pretty rare occurrence in nature. Tourist needs to hike for one km to reach this beautiful place. It is named as robbers cave because it is said that the robbers knew as daakus used to hide in this area. Robber’s Cave is basically a narrow gorge formed in the conglomerate limestone.

  • Lacchiwala-

Lacchiwala is a popular picnic destination. It is famous lush of greenery unspoiled and untouched by humanity. It is just located a few miles from Dehradun it’s a fun drive. It also consists of hotels and cottages from where artists can click magnificent pictures.

Other than there are places like.

  • Har ki dun the cradled shaped valley.
  • Tiger view jungle camp
  • Bali pass-the gigantic trek
  • Assan barrage -bird watching region

Places to revive your religion-

Dehradun is situated in a hilly region consists of a lot of temples and places of religious importance where people can revive their religion.

It consists of temples like the –

  • Tapkeshwar Mahadev temple-

This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is used for special occasions and pujas. It also hosts a famous fair. This beautiful temple is made by digging the caves inside the rocky mountain where the shiva linga is placed. It derived this name because of the natural droplets falling.

Laxman Sidh temple –

This is yet another popular temple where people gather in bunches it is an area of religious importance because it’s said that this is the place where lord Laxman underwent repentance for killing  The king demon. Ravana.

Guru ram rai gurudwara-

This gurudwara was established by the eldest son of the seventh guru of sings. This gurudwara attracts a lot of tourists and pilgrims every year. This building is an epitome of Muslim and Hindu architecture. It consists of domes, minarets, paintings, gurudwara, etc.

Other than that it has got a lot more to offer people revive their souls and minds from here cause alas it’s the city with the spice of nature and religion. It is definitely a spot that is supposed to be explored once in a lifetime. I don’t know about you’ll but this one is definitely in my bucket list.
